High Hopes

I sit pondering here
In the warmth of your lap
My thoughts force a tear to my eye
A tear in remembrance to the past-
Gloriously wrapped in beauty
Abundant scenic charm
Resplendent green pastures,splendid landscapes.

Times have changed...
Homes have turned to houses
N' have grown closer
While people drift farther.
The love, the bonding, the belonging
All have given way to materialism.
Your beauty unexplored
Has plunged from exuberant brilliance
To virgin abandonment.

Despair engulfs me with these thoughts
But in your loving lap
I take the courage to hope;
Hope that times do change again
N' change for the best.
Hope that the charm of yesteryears
Rebloom in bounty.

Hoping that my hopes come true........

arre wah,..

when i read your poetry,.
song struck in my mind,. from British Rock group called "Pink Floyd",..
they wrote this song, same title as yours,

"High Hopes"

I hope you'll like it,..

here we go

"High Hopes" by "Pink Floyd"

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the long road and on down the causeway
Do they still meet there by the cut
There was a ragged man that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder

Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
go down this road we've been so many times

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river

Forever and ever
"Hey, is that Charlie? yes... Hello Charlie... great"

You talked about quite a few things in this one - hope, nostalgia, your loneliness and a few more. I liked the progression of thought and the way you've delivered it.

But, am I observing a fall in the quality and vocabulary in your poems? I mean, these older ones sounds much better and polished in subject and style.

Pardon me if I'm wrong.

And on a last note, THANKS A LOT for visiting my blog and commenting on my songs. You were the first critical judge of my songs and that's exactly what I wanted. I really appreciate your interest in my blog and I'd sure take in your suggestion to make my songs better.

By the way, your profile says that you sing and are interested in photography too. Wish I could get a sample of both. Well, you're not obliged to do so. But I'd really appreciate it if you can.

And answering your query of how I upload those songs into my blog - Well, I use my Sony Ericsson mobile phone to record my songs. The file would not be in mp3 format but in amr format. I convert it into mp3 using an 'amr to mp3' software that I downloaded for free from the net.

I then upload it into this site called and get the embedding code from there. I post that code into my blog and the job is done. Hope I got the message through!
